a creature learns to walk
no animation. no keyframes. just physics, neurons, and natural selection.
8 creatures with random neural networks learn to walk through evolution. Muscles glow warm when firing. The golden one is the champion. Watch chaos become rhythm. Crank speed to accelerate evolution.
Each creature has a verlet physics body — nine points connected by bone constraints. Four muscles (thighs and shins) are driven by a neural network that reads joint angles, angular velocities, and ground contact. The networks start random. Every five seconds, the fittest creatures reproduce with mutation. What you're watching is not animation — it's emergence.
The five phases: twitching (random noise) → lurching (discovering push) → stepping (alternating legs) → walking (coordinated gait) → grace (the body knows).
"Grace appears most purely in that human form which either has no consciousness at all — or an infinite consciousness. That is, in the puppet or in the god."
— Kleist. This is the god end.
