Alignment creates trust
When elements share an edge, the eye relaxes. The grid promises order. But order alone is dead.
Breaking alignment creates energy
One element off-grid. The eye snaps to it. This is where meaning lives — in the deliberate violation.
Proportion is emotional
A narrow column next to a wide one. The narrow column feels compressed, urgent. The wide one feels authoritative, calm.

On the web, scroll is our only tracking shot. Most pages waste it — content appears and disappears with no spatial relationship. No depth. No mass.
But when elements have weight. When the grid breathes. When far things lag and near things lead. Then scrolling becomes seeing.
